Coverage in Avon Park Ends

Posted by: jocktoo in Untagged  on

jocktoo
JockJive regrets that it has ended it's coverage of the 2010 Florida Dixie Youth T-Ball and AA Pitching Machine State Tournaments. Heavy rains forced DY officials to move the tournaments to Avon Park where internet service was not available. We provided a limited game schedule with the use of aircards until it was learned that full internet service would not be available the remainder of the event. We apologize for the early exit, but the matter was beyond the control of JockJive or Dixie Youth. Our next coverage of a Dixie Youth State Tournament is set for July 17-22 at the Majors in Freeport.

Change in T-Ball and AA Coverage

Posted by: jocktoo in Untagged  on

jocktoo
Due to the change in venues from Wauchula to Avon Park for the Florida Dixie Youth T-Ball and AA Pitching Machine State Tournaments, internet coverage is not available. This has reduced our coverage drastically and will result in a limited broadcast schedule.  We apologize for the omission of games, but the matter is completely beyond the control of JockJive.

T-Ball on JockJive

JockJive will be at Hiland Park in Panama City for live coverage of the Florida Dixie Youth North Regional T-Ball Tournament. DVD's of the games, complete with play-by-play coverage will be available on location. Plus, all games will be streamed live.

NJCAA Baseball World Series

Posted by: jocktoo in Untagged  on

jocktoo

The NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series in Grand Junction, CO is an amazing event. It's a culmination of superb talent, unprecedented planning and a community with 7 to 8 days of JUCO fever. This year's tournament featured record-setting attendance, primarily because of the presence of S0uthern Nevada's Bryce Harper, the projected #1 pick in next week's MLB draft. However, therein lies the lone blemish on this year's series.  Harper was ejected from the Southern Nevada/Iowa Western game on Wednesday night for arguing a call strike three. Regardless of the variables, Harper was fully aware of consequences for specific actions. The consequences were a 2-game suspension. Harper is human, he made a mistake, albeit huge. However, my biggest concern doesn't lie within the ejection, but in the actions of the team the day that followed. Lead-off batter Scott Dysinger opted to where Harper's #34, meaning Southern Nevada decided to honor a player who had knowingly broken the rules. Suddenly, the Southern Nevada season wasn't about winning a championship, it was about Bryce Harper. It wasn't about a display of class, but a showcase of dishonor and selffishness. We question why today's youth lack values, but the answer is found within the actions of their greatest influences...the adults who are to supposedly guide them. A player may have devised the plan to honor Harper, but it was the coach's responsibility to nix an idea that reflected poorly on their team. The Southern Nevada coaching staff failed miserably with this task. Let's hope that the lesson learned will be valuable knowledge gained.

Prayer Requested For Tori

Please pray for a Monroe County High School student/ootball player and his mother.  The student is
Tori Terrell and he is a 10th grade student at MCHS. He and his mother were in a
car accident.  Tori is in an induced coma.  His mother is being fitted for a
halo today (Oct. 27) due to having a broken neck.

Please keep this family in your prayers and if you would like to make any
donations such as food and or monetary donations you may contact the office at
MCHS and they will give you the information whereas to send these donations.

Also, they will have buckets for donations at the Monroe County/Spanish Fort game on Thursday in order
to help this family with any traveling fees and also medical bills because as we
all know medical bills are very heavy when you are in such a critical situation.

Women's College Basketball coming to JockJive

Posted by: jocktoo in Untagged  on

jocktoo
JockJive.com will kick off the 2009-10 basketball season Tuesday, Nov. 3, from Dahlonega, Georgia. The Lady Saints of North Georgia College & State University will host Bryan College in an exhibition matchup that promises to be exciting. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. EDT, 5 p.m. CDT. North Georgia's Lady Saints have signed three incoming freshman and one transfer, according to head coach Buffie Burson. Janyce Ealey, a 5-9 freshman forward from Carrollton, Georgia, and Carrollton High School led CHS to the school's first state championship in 2009 with a record of 32-2. The standout averaged 17.0 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, and was named Atlanta Journal Constitution and GSWA First-Team All-State, All-Region, and Times-Georgian First-Team All-Area. Ieshia Alexander, a 5-6 freshman point guard from Rome, Georgia, and Coosa High School averaged 16.0 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 4.6 steals per game during her senior season. She was named MVP of the Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Game, earned Rome News Tribune Player of the Year honors, and was named NW Tip-Off Club Player of the Year, GACA All-State, All-Region, and to the Tip-Off Club All-Metro Team. Jessica Howard, a 6-0 freshman center from Toccoa, Georgia, and Stephens County High School averaged 9.0 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game during her senior season. Tiffany Marlow, a 6-0 junior forward from Gainesville, Georgia, and Chestatee High School makes her way to North Georgia from Truett-McConnell Junior College where she averaged 12.0 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game playing for the Bears last season. Marlow earned GJCAA All-Region honors playing for Truett-McConnell in 2008-09. The Lady Saints will open the 2009-10 season with five straight home games, including contests against Newberry, Rollins, and Kentucky Wesleyan. After finishing one game away from returning to the NAIA National Tournament for the fifth time in six years, the Bryan College Lady Lions are set to play a schedule full of traditional rivals, strong conference opponents, and a matchup with the 2008 NAIA National Runner-up and perennial Top-10 program, Trevecca Nazarene University. The Lady Lions will also travel to Pensacola, FL, during the Thanksgiving weekend to return a game with Pensacola Christian College. "We are excited about this upcoming season," said Lady Lions head coach Jamy Bechler. "We have a good group of girls and think that we can continue to perform at a high level. Our schedule is a good mix of home and away games. We play against some bigger schools, as well as some smaller ones. We are really looking forward to meeting North Georgia to pen things up and going to the Trevecca Nazarene Classic. It will be a great test for us. The conference will be really solid from top-to-bottom again this year, with many teams having a chance to win the regular season championship. We think our non-conference schedule will get our entire team prepared for the AAC competition." The Lady Lions will also travel to Marion, Alabama for an engagement with Judson College. Join the JockJive broadcast team of Jim DeWitt, Timothy DeWitt and Andrew DeWitt for tipoff from North Georgia College & State University Tuesday, Nov. 3

PreSeason Prep

Not sure I like this pre-season high school football stuff. I know it's decent prep for the regular season, but there's the threat of injury and for the Sweet Waters of this world, who play about 15 games every year, it's another week of wear and tear!
