Jim DeWitt brings more than 4 decades of experience to the sports table having launched his radio career in 1965 in the Florida town of Wauchula. His voice has been heard providing play-by-play for the Boston Red Sox Grapefruit League games in Winter Haven, Florida. He has served as sports director for the old Sun Radio Network, did football play-by-play for Tuskegee University, and God only knows how many high school games. Jim DeWitt has already brought Division 1 NCAA Basketball to JockJive, a JJ first, plus Monroe County, Wilcox Central, Butler County Magnet School and Greenville High Sports. Robert Williamson has more than 3 decades of sports broadcasting experience. He has provided the play-by-play for prep sports at every level including State Championship coverage of Football, Basketball and Baseball. Robert has also provided coverage of the NJCAA National Championships in Football and Volleyball, NCAA Basketball, Dixie Boys World Series, Dixie Softball World Series, Junior College Basketball and more. Gil Taylor may be a newcomer to the world of sports broadcasting, but it has been baptism by fire. In 2008, Gil joined JockJive and promptly provided coverage of more than 60 Dixie Youth and Dixie Baseball games within a 6 week period. He has also handled the play-by-play of Florala Football and Paxton, Laurel Hill, Florala and Baker Basketball & Baseball. Gil is certainly no stranger to athletics, he was a high school official for decades.

 

Bobby Fleming was a 2-sport star at Florala High School and played college baseball on a scholarship at Enterprise Community College in Alabama. He debuted in 2008 with occasional stints as the Color Analyst of High School Football. His work quickly became more extensive providing play-by-play for Dixie Youth Baseball and the Dixie Softball World Series. He was the Color Analyst for Florala High School Football this year and will be heard frequently during baseball season on JockJive.com.

  • QB Leinart, Texans agree to 1-year deal (AP)
    Matt Leinart has agreed to a one-year deal with the Houston Texans, according to agent Tom Condon. Leinart was cut by Arizona on Saturday. Condon confirmed in a phone interview with The Associated Press on Monday that Leinart had reached a deal with the Texans. The Texans would not confirm the deal. The team returns to practice Wednesday, leading up to Sunday's season opener against Indianapolis.
  • Ravens, WR Houshmandzadeh agree to terms (AP)
    The Baltimore Ravens upgraded their receiving corps again by agreeing to terms Monday with T.J. Houshmandzadeh. To make room for Houshmandzadeh on the roster, the Ravens traded wide receiver Mark Clayton to the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick. Clayton, drafted 22nd overall by Baltimore in the 2005 draft, ranks third in Ravens history with 234 career catches and 3,116 yards.

    Ben Roethlisberger is no longer a Pittsburgh Steelers captain. Dennis Dixon is the new Steelers quarterback, at least for the time being. Roethlisberger, suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the season, was not chosen a Steelers captain in a vote by his teammates. He has been selected the previous two seasons.
